Overview
Relevance Actions allow a participant to tell the matchmaking engine whether the suggested matches they are seeing are useful. The signals captured here are fed back into the recommendation model to refine future matches.
Where Relevance Actions appear
Each recommended match card in the Matches list shows two relevance controls:
-
Relevant — thumbs-up style action indicating the match is a good fit.
-
Not relevant — thumbs-down style action indicating the match is not useful.
Behaviour
-
Selecting either action saves the signal immediately — no extra confirmation step is needed.
-
Selecting Not relevant removes the card from the Matches list.
-
Selecting Relevant keeps the card visible and highlights it so the user can act on it.
-
Actions can be reversed by selecting the same action again to toggle it off.
Relevance message
When a user marks several matches as not relevant in a short period, an inline message appears at the top of the Matches list:
"We are tuning your suggestions. Keep marking matches as relevant or not relevant to improve what we show you."
The message is dismissible and only re-appears after another batch of negative signals.
Impact on matching
-
Positive signals increase the weighting of similar profiles in future suggestions.
-
Negative signals decrease the weighting of similar profiles.
-
A participant who has been marked Not relevant is not suggested again to the same user.
-
Relevance signals are private — the rated participant is not notified.
