Site history

Feature Purpose:

The Site History feature in ExpoPlatform allows users to manage and track changes made to their event sites. It provides a chronological list of changes, showing who made each update and when. You can view version details, restore a previous version if needed, or delete older versions to keep your workspace organized.

This feature is especially useful for rolling back mistakes or reviewing past edits during the website-building process. This functionality is crucial for:

  • Version Control: Keeping a record of all changes allows users to monitor the evolution of their site.

  • Restoration: Easily revert to previous versions if recent changes lead to issues or if there's a need to return to a prior state.

  • Collaboration: Multiple team members can work on the site, with the assurance that changes are tracked and reversible.

Working with this Feature:

List of Saved Versions

The Site History maintains a chronological list of all saved versions of your site. Each entry typically includes:

  • Timestamp: When the version was saved.

  • User Information: Who made the changes.

  • Change Description: Notes or summaries of what was modified.

This list allows users to:

  • Review Changes: Understand what modifications were made and by whom.

Screen recording highlights its navigation on the website builder

Version Info

Each saved version contains detailed information, including:

  • Content Changes: Specific alterations made to text, images, or layout.

  • Metadata: Information such as the date of modification and the user responsible.

  • Version Notes: Optional notes provided by the user to describe the purpose or nature of the changes.

  2. Click on edit “website”

  3. Preview: Optionally, preview the selected version to ensure it's the correct one.

  4. Restore: Click the "Restore" button. A confirmation prompt may appear to prevent accidental restorations.

  5. Save Changes: After restoration, ensure you save the changes to make them live.

Note: Restoring a version will create a new entry in the Site History, allowing you to undo the restoration if needed.

Delete Version

To maintain a clean version history or to remove outdated or unnecessary versions:

  1. Access Site History: Navigate to the Site History section.

  2. Select Version: Identify the version you wish to delete.

  3. Delete: Click the "Delete" button associated with that version.

  4. Confirm Deletion: A prompt will appear to confirm the deletion.

Deleting a version is irreversible.

Double check that the version is no longer needed before deleting.

Troubleshooting:

  • Restoration Errors: If restoring a version doesn't reflect the expected changes, ensure that you have saved the restored version properly.

  • Deletion Mistakes: Accidentally deleted versions cannot be recovered. To prevent such issues, always double-check before confirming deletions.
