Payment Within ExpoPlatform
Some sessions may require payment. If so, ticket prices and quantities can be managed during session creation or session editing.
To configure these settings, navigate to:
-
Admin Panel → Management - Sessions
-
In the Prices section, set the Session Price and Max Ticket Quantity fields.
Prices, including VAT, display in the selected currency. The overarching payment process is managed in: Admin Panel → Event Setup → Payments. Please refer to the Payments section of our documentation for important details about this setup.
Once a user adds a session to their cart, they can proceed to purchase. Discounts, set in Admin Panel → Registration Settings → Discounts, are applied on the checkout page, allowing for various discount types and restrictions. To learn more about discounts please visit the Discounts section of our documentation.
Payment Outside of ExpoPlatform (Released June 2026)
Organisers can now configure a Session's "Register" button to redirect attendees to an external registration or payment URL, enabling third-party registration and payment flows directly from the session page.
Key points:
-
A new External Registration URL field is available when editing a Session in the Admin Panel. The URL must use HTTPS — a non-HTTPS or invalid URL value triggers a validation error and blocks saving.
-
When an external URL is configured, the "Register" button on the attendee-facing session page displays an external link icon (↗) appended to the button label, clearly indicating that clicking will navigate away from the platform.
-
Clicking the button opens the external URL in a new browser tab or window (web).
-
If no external URL is configured, the standard ExpoPlatform registration flow is unchanged.
-
The External Registration URL field is included in Session import and export files, allowing bulk import with the URL pre-populated and ensuring sessions can be re-imported without losing the configuration.
-
No automatic data reconciliation: Registrations completed via the external URL do not create records in ExpoPlatform. Reconciliation of externally-registered attendees remains the organizer's responsibility.
How to use it
To configure an external registration URL on a Session:
-
Navigate to Admin Panel → Management → Sessions.
-
Open the Session you want to configure.
-
Locate the External Registration URL field in the session edit form.
-
Enter a valid HTTPS URL (e.g.
https://registration.yourpartner.com/session/abc123). The field validates that the URL uses HTTPS — a non-HTTPS value shows a validation error and blocks saving. -
Click Save. The "Register" button on the session's attendee-facing page now shows the external link icon (↗) and opens the configured URL in a new browser tab.
To disable the external redirect and return to standard ExpoPlatform registration:
-
Navigate to Admin Panel → Management → Sessions and open the Session.
-
Clear the External Registration URL field completely.
-
Click Save. The "Register" button returns to the standard ExpoPlatform registration flow.
Session import/export: The External Registration URL column is included in the session import template and in the session export file. Use the standard session import to set this value in bulk.
