Allow Any Code Scan
Feature Overview
The mobile app now allows users to scan any QR or barcode, whether or not it is associated with existing platform data. This new functionality gives users greater flexibility to capture and store any scanned code within the app, even if it’s unrelated to accounts or content on the platform.
Admin Panel Settings
In the Admin Panel under Event Setup → Networking & Matchmaking → Contact Sharing Tab, admins can manage this feature with the “Allow users to scan any codes” toggle.
When enabled, users can scan any QR/barcode without restriction
When disabled, only codes associated with platform accounts are recognized
Mobile App Scanning Flow
When a Code is Recognized: The app will display full account data related to the scanned code.
When a Code is Unrecognized: Instead of showing an error, the app will display “Code successfully scanned” in the scan list. Tapping on this entry opens a popup displaying the scanned code’s value.
Data Export Enhancements
In the Data → Import/Export section, both the Exhibitors Scanned Report and Visitors Scanned Report now include a “Scanned Code” column. This column shows:
The code value for all scans, whether recognized or not.
For unrecognized codes, only the code, user info, and scan timestamp are shown.
For recognized codes, all associated account information appears in the report.
Lead Files and User Profile Downloads
In User Profile → Download Leads File, as well as in lead files emailed to users, a “Scanned Code” column has been added. This column includes:
Recognized codes with full account details.
Unrecognized codes with only the code value and timestamp.
With this feature, users can seamlessly scan and keep a record of any QR or barcode, enhancing their ability to capture diverse data at events.
