Networking opt-in

Feature purpose:

The current feature introduces the possibility for participants (visitors and team members) to choose whether they want to share their personal details and participate in networking. Event organizers may request this due to GDPR requirements.

Working with this feature:

  1. Add a parameter to the registration form.
Registration Settings -> Visitor -> Registration Pipeline.

  2. On the left side, under “Predefined fields”, simply drag and drop the “Networking Opt-in” to the desired grid.

NOTE: By default networking opt-in will be set to NO, so if you use external registration (data passed via API) all accounts are set to NO.
In case you upload participant's data via import and you want everyone to opt-in, you need to add 1 in the current field:

Enable inversion for networking opt-in

If you want all accounts to be opted in by default, you must use the “Enable inversion for networking opt-in” feature. In case this is used logic changes from asking the participant if he would like to opt in to if he would like to opt-out (become unavailable for matchmaking).

Registration settings > Visitor > Additional Settings > Enable Inversion for Networking opt-in

Important Notes:

  1. In case this is enabled, the appropriate wording for the opt-in question in the registration pipeline would be “Networking opt-out” or “If you would like to opt-out, please select yes”

2. In case you have existing participant data, once you enable inversion, it will invert the existing data (if all accounts were opted out > will change to opt-in and vice versa).

  1. In import 1 would mean opt-out instead of opt-in.

Disclaimer for Inversion feature

You may notice the following text near the Inversion feature:

No matter if you have inversion enabled or disabled, in the database (not visible to anyone except developers) the logic is always the following:

Opt-in = 1

Opt-out = 0

Troubleshooting:

  1. Always consider if you have inversion turned on or off, keep in mind that with inversion turned on logic changes from opt-in to opt-out)

  2. In case you have a participant who has selected networking opt-in, he appears in the delegate list, but it is not possible to request meetings or message him > check the connection settings of this account.
